Thank you for this. After the horrible news I got from Mexico this morning, any hope from any front is much appreciated.
I really think it’s over. I’ve been reading some about the demographics of absentee voters, and the votes usually fall in line with the regular vote. Everyone except the No on 8 Committee seems to have moved on. karina, I’m sorry about your news.>>jennifer, yep, I know. I just needed Happy Face for a couple of hours to cope with my day. Now I’m okay to deal with reality. Which sucks. Sigh.
Yeah, I’m getting used to it now too. Can’t say I’m surprised about it, but that doesn’t make it any less fucked up.
jennifer, yep, totally fucked up. But the world turns. All things change. From tomorrow I’ll be focussing on that.
Thanks. I’m sorry, too.>>I’m thinking every same-sex couple that got married in California should demand a refund. Let’s see how the residents feel about returning all the wedding-money they benefited from.
The Constitution gaurantees the right to life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We have managed to transform the right to life into anti-abortion propaganda, the right to liberty into anti-terrorism and homeland security, and the right to happiness into heterosexuality period. We have a long way to go. Each benighted person will have to decide whether and how to keep fighting for the idea that came later than the Constitution, diversity. I am angry and hurt, but I am also determined, even though I have been growing old in these struggles.
I’m still confused about how Prop 8 can be even remotely in line with the First Amendment. There’s some interesting (deep) background on that < HREF="http://press-pubs.uchicago.edu/founders/documents/amendI_religions53.html" REL="nofollow">here<>.>>Other than that, just…>>Grrr.
This is all I can contribute today. Any help, even on technical grounds, is a ray of hope now.>http://tinyurl.com/5evujw
nick, I’m confused about why some people feel better when they take things away from others. Human nature is a puzzle.>>evecho, thanks. Like one of the law professors interviewed I, too, think this legal action is a stretch. I think this is going to have to be done the hard way, though legislation. (And, yes, I think it will be hard and long.)
