The weather is changing here in Seattle. The air is perfectly still; the birds are quiet. When the barometer plummets my mind goes blank, smooth as a pebble. Today is no exception. I’m sure at some point I’ll wake up–probably just in time to kill my brain by watching the Oscars.
Meanwhile, I thought I’d throw things open to you today: how’s your weekend been? Will you be watching the Oscars (or the L Word)? Who do you want to win? (Do you wish they’d just kill Jenny already?)
My guilty Oscar pleasure is looking at the clothes…
Having a melancholy weekend. I am finding it difficult to be hopeful about the future and I am usually a very optimistic person. The weather is cold, rainy and gray, not really helping my mood.>>I don’t watch the L-Word anymore, however I do love to read the recaps on Afterellen, they are quite hilarious. >>I may actually watch the Oscars for a bit, sound off of course. I know I won’t last long. The show just bores me to tears for some reason.
We usually manage to see a random half-hour of the Oscars each year, never much more than that. There’s still an unwatched BATTLESTAR GALACTICA dvd in the house, so that may well win out.
It is pouring here in northern California, which is very good for writing. Tonight I unexpectedly will be watching the Oscars (b/c a friend offered food simultaneously — I’ll be there for the food).>>I still watch TLW for work purposes, but I am very glad it is almost over. And I love scribegrrl’s recaps, too.
I think I’m going to go eat everything in the fridge, then drink an entire pot of tea and several pieces of chocolate–see if I can pump myself up enough, blood sugar- and caffeine-wise–to get over this ennui and do some work.>>But, really, Hugh Jackman hosting the Oscars? Hugh Plastic Jackman?!
I got rid of my cable tv so now I can only watch what is online. I’ve been giving Hulu.com quite a workout. When I watched the Oscars, my guilty pleasure was watching how the clothes were filled out.
Oh, I never feel guilty about *that* :)
I’m going to an Oscar party, which is good, ’cause I only have a TV to play videos and dvds. There will be great food and best of all, good friends. I have read some of the stories but seen none of the movies, so it should be very interesting.
Ah, yes. The clothes….>>It is SNOWING here in Indy. Cold and bitter. Going to watch the Oscars with my mum, if she can tolerate my presence long enough. :)
It was actually warmer here in London this weekend than it has been, so that was good. I won’t be watching the Oscars and no longer miss what I haven’t watched in years. I went out last night and met someone who actually prefers women my age. The scene can be cruel once you are past the dating prime – so it was quite a pleasant surprise when she actually prefers women my age. I have no intention of dating…but it was nice to hear. I’m moving house in a few weeks and have spent the day on the internet ordering stuff for my unfurnished move. It hasn’t been stressful and I’ve been a lazy butt. I feel pretty good. >>And I see why everyone wants to tie a brick onto Jenny’s feet. Her character demands it. She is begging to be offed by everyone. I lurve her. >>When i did watch the Oscars, my guilty pleasure would be imagining that I was wearing the clothes. If only.
Steadycat, not knowing your exact age, and too polite to ask, I would like to say that it would be neat to meet women who like women your age. How nice for you.
We aren’t watching the L Word OR the Oscars tonight. Just laying low and enjoying the last of the weekend. Probably try to finish reading Black Swan Green by David Mitchell, which I am LOVING. :D>>Enjoy the parade on the red carpet. My mom loves that, too. I’ll catch the highlights in pictures tomorrow. Wonder if anyone will wear anything as outrageous as Bjork’s swan dress?
My wife has been out of town– boo! Friday I…crap, what was friday? I think I went to the gym & then to bed sober? Saturday not so much– gym, then suddenly at like 4:30 people started showing up at my apartment to play Guitar Hero & watch reality tv? TODAY was the day I run my role playing game & it was pretty awesome if I do say so myself; lots of inexplicable imagery, peyote, & yelling at kids for going home from parties with strange men. Yowza!
Watched the Oscars and all of the predicted winners won. Only Penn beating Rourke was much of an issue.>The rest of my weekend entailed getting my partner over her cold. Forcing herb tea down the gullet of an unwilling sicko, especially when you have to assure them that there isn’t enough cyanide in the tree bark to kill them, kind of takes the bloom off the whole holistic deal thing anyway.>She’s better now, btw. And alive.
