I’m stupid crazy busy with three different things, so I don’t have much to talk about this week. But I did take this citizenship test to see if I had what it takes to become a naturalized citizen of the U.S. I scored 95% (The question supreme court justices is badly phrased. That’s my story; I’m sticking to it. My other story, of course, is that I’m good at multiple choice quizzes. Hey, it’s not rocket science. Plus I made one lucky guess.) Try it. Find out how much you know about the governance of the US of A.

I got 90%, which surprised me, but I had to guess a few times.
I took a “literacy test” back in grade school — ostensibly the kind they gave blacks before they were allowed to vote back in the Jim Crow days — took me several days at the library, going through all kinds of reference books, and even called the state capitol to figure out all the answers. (Of course, this was before the internet.) Last time I looked, the citizenship test is significantly less difficult, although considering how little I keep up with current events these days, I'd probably have trouble.
100%! I was guessing on the INS form though– I don't know that!
I also had to guess on the INS form, as luck would have it I was right. Got a 100%, I guess that means I get to stay!
80%. Got the year of the constitution and of the adoption of the declaration of independence wrong; switched them around. If I had read more carefully (give me a break, it's 2 AM here) I would have answered those correctly.
The “Give me liberty or give me death” quote; I don't even know who Patrick Henry is.
And I got the last one (three rights or freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights) wrong, but that's because I just picked the line that sounded most famous, not because I actually picked an answer to the question.
But don't worry, I wouldn't become a US citizen even if they paid me for it.
95%, I quit paying attention after having to guess at the INS form. Darn it. Trick question!
I went to a 4th of July party a few years ago where one of the hosts had just become a citizen (made for a great reason to have that party). She had the whole list of prep questions that that quiz was pulled from as I recall, and it became sort of a party game to see who could answer them. I was rather appalled at how few people could answer some pretty basic questions…
Now I want to take the old Imperial examination of China; my poetry & horsemanship are okay!
But how's your calligraphy?
