On Monday I informed the board of the Lambda Literary Foundation that I will be taking a leave of absence until the end of the summer…
…and it’s spring! I made a wee slideshow (complete with cheesy but, y’know, heartfelt music) to express my joy but, huh, I couldn’t figure out how to share it. (I’m new at this Mac stuff.) So here are two photos, of things (no idea what–but don’t they look all springy and fresh and downright luscious?) growing right in my front garden, which will have to stand in for the rest:
In practical terms, this means I can now get back to Hild. I can spend some time with Sterling Editing. I can have a life again! Life is just damn good.
Oh, also you’ll be seeing more of me around here. Threat or promise? You decide…
Sounds promising! Glad you will have more time for Hild, I am very excited to see the finished work.
Glad to have you back, and that it's (getting to be) spring. The top photo is an Oregon Grape Holly, A.K.A. Mahonia. I've heard of people making jelly from the purple berries, but I usually just let the birds enjoy them. (They're a favorite of cardinals, wax wings, mockingbirds and catbirds.)
The bottom photo — love the sparkly dew drops — looks like maybe a mint or celosia. You might pinch off a leaf and see if it smells like mint or bergamot or simply “green.”
yay!
Thanks, all.
Dianne, I'll check out the mint/celosia later this morning. Thanks for the other info.
nicola — it looks like something I SHOULD know the name of, but my mind isn't cooperating. prolly be easier to identify once it starts blooming… glad you're having fun with the new mac. :D
If you made that slideshow in iPhoto, I'm not sure about getting it onto Blogger, but you can export it as a quicktime video file. Exit out of the slideshow and look under the file menu for “export.” You should see some selections exporting it.
Dianne, it doesn't smell like mint or bergamot; not aromatic at all. Just sorta…leafy.
Yeah, volunteering is fabulous, but can suck the life blood out of you and hours of every day…
Woohoo! Winter storm advisory for southern Colorado! Bad thing is I can't go anywhere. I love driving in snow/on ice . . . yes, I may be certifiably insane :P.
