Breakfast: Irish breakfast tea, scrambled egg (with parsley and chives, our very own kerbs) on toast, followed by handmade Cognac truffles–while the rain poured into the ravine outside and the table glowed with cheerful flowers. (Photo taken, by the way, with crapcam, which seems to do okay in bright light from a distance of two feet. But it wasn’t smart enough to delete the pepper mill. Hey, just regard that as a note of authenticity.)

I think the pepper mill adds a touch of grit and realism, and brings the whole image to ground level where the rest of us can relate to it.
That breakfast sounds really tasty. I've been eating hotdogs and potato chips for days.
tranceptor: hotdogs and crisps? Why??
Money, it always begins with money. I'm also currently in the process of writing a book and don't want to fuss with anything that is not the story.
transceptor, in my utterly poor days I ate a lot of lentils: v. cheap, delicious, good for you, easy to combine w/other things in the kind of meal that will last for 3+ days, i.e. no fussing, most of the time. But, hey, perhaps you don't like lentils. They're not for everyone… Good luck with the writing.
How blissfully beautiful… : )
