The Mother in speculative fiction

Adrienne Rich said that cathexis about the mother-daughter relationship is “the great unwritten story” in US and UK fiction. By this she didn’t mean women don’t write about it, but that literary critics don’t. This is particularly true in the genre of speculative fiction.
